Swimming, The Great Foot Debacle, and More Catan – June 27-28, 2018

Margaret and Annora refilled the kiddie pool for Haven.

Annora learned that no good deed goes unpunished. She got soaked and it ended in an epic splash war!

I was stuck inside with a hurt foot. It started Saturday night and has gotten gradually worse. I can’t imagine what I’ve done to it! Tuesday and Wednesday it was nearly impossible to walk because of the pain and swelling.

Thursday I went to After Hours Care in Americus, GA. (It’s a walk-in clinic I would highly recommend. They were extremely pleasant, caring, and knowledgeable. And I was feeling pretty grumpy when I went, so be assured that the were no rose colored glasses in place.)

The nurse practitioner sent me to the hospital for blood work and x-rays. Blood work came back negative for high uric acid (that’s what causes gout). Still waiting to hear about the x-rays.

On the plus side, since we are pretty sure about the uric acid, I could eat things other than celery and cherries, so Brian took me to a Mexican restaurant, The 1800. Oh-my-avacado! The fresh, chunky guacamole was great! And the ceiling was really cool (I took a pic for posterity–you know, for when Brian and I finally decide to build our own Hobbit hole.)

After a long day of doctors and hospital and tests and getting our glasses fitted/adjusted/repaired (How was I to know that if you leave your glasses on the couch, that someone might sit on them? #NewGlassesWearer), I came back to the house to a dog who needed pats and scratches, and squealing girls who had taken the time to draw me a picture.

I took my prescription medication and took a nap.

After Haven went to bed, it was time for battle Catan. For those of you who don’t know, Catan is cutthroat. As Annora says, “This is Sparta!” When we play Catan, the Golden Rule goes out the window and players become sneaky and obstructive.

I’m happy to announce that after a heated game, just before the 11:30 (23:30) cut-off, Margaret won!!! That’s two games in a row that have been won by someone other than Brian.

Aaaaand…
This is what was waiting in my bed! Cute, huh? 😊
