My parents fly in from California tomorrow morning, so Brian and I are taking a quick overnighter to Atlanta… To a nice hotel (4 stars) next to the airport. By ourselves.
On the way, we stopped to check out Auchumpkee Creek Covered Bridge in Culloden, GA. It is 121 feet long and was originally built in 1892. It’s been rebuilt/restored twice.

We took pictures. 😁

The Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel is fabuloso. Every single person we encountered had had a smile, pleasant words, and seemed genuinely friendly.
Also, the lobby has swinging seats. Bonus points! (I had way too much fun there, waiting for Brian to park in the next parking lot over–our hotel only has valet parking, but the next place over has self parking, so we used their lot.)

Got to the hotel room and my name was on the flippin’ TV.

Art everywhere. Even in the bathroom.

Brian rumpled the bed, but didn’t want his picture taken on it.

Things were well thought-out and organized.
Y’all. All the light switches are perfectly labeled. It warms the deepest cockles of this neat freak’s heart.

The view from our room on the 5th floor is cool. We can see the train that goes to and from the airport, and there are some huge cranes working on something. We can see planes coming in to land. But we hear nothing. It’s beautiful!

Okay, so the mural below isn’t the best piece of advice ever. By far. I appreciate that they are trying to be upbeat, but…
Anyway, today is a celebration for us! We have come a long way in many ways and…

Brian decided we would eat at the restaurant downstairs. (He’s totally spoiling me! And I’m totally okay with it.) 😉
We got the roasted carrot and arugula salad to share. Oh-my-puddin-pie! I could eat it all day long. So good! Pecan pralines and avacodo and three colors of carrots.

Brian ordered lobster linguini (he was spoiling both of us, I guess).

I got the shrimp and grits, which had two big ol’, thick strips of bacon and aduile sausage with the requisite jumbo shrimp. This was the best meal I’ve put in my mouth in I don’t know how long. And I don’t even like shrimp! (I got it because it had sausage.)

Back to the room. Can’t wait to see my parents tomorrow morning!
