Are We Exploring Yet? – July 9-20, 2018

So, I thought we’d get settled in a bit, get our government paperwork into the works for our visas, get Brian’s University documents figured out, then start exploring our surroundings a bit.

(There’s a lot of daylight. I love it!)

Well, it hasn’t quite worked out that way. But it’s an international move. It should have been expected.

The cough I was fighting went into full-blown mode the day after we arrived. The Haenzes, brave souls that they are, didn’t flinch at my germs and handed me tissues as they helped us settle in to their old home (they are moving several hours south), get Polish cell service, government stuff squared away, and helped us set up a local bank account (when we were at the bank, I was really embarrassed because of all the coughing). On top of that, they showed us where to buy all the things we’ll need, and helped us download the best phone apps for getting around on public transportion and Uber (since we decided not to bring our car).

(The picture above has a story with it. A story of ridiculousness. A story about me, in my sleep deprived and ill state doing something so utterly silly I’m not posting it publicly. But if you know me personally, ask next time I see or talk to you. I delight in making others feel good about themselves by telling of my owb folly.)

But we made it to Poland! We are here! We didn’t lose anyone along the way, and neither did we lose any luggage.

Amid the paperwork and government offices, and shopping…

…We eat!

And play.

And shop for groceries.

And eat.

And discover that eggs here are sold, not by the dozen, but by tens.

And we play.

And ride the bus.

And generally try to figure day to day things out.

It’s now July 20, and my injured foot (Remember that little gem of a departing gift? Thanks, USA.), is still acting up, and I am sick with the Sinus Infection from Hades. (SIfH. It’s worthy of an acronym. And if you pronounce it phonetically out-loud, not forgetting the H on the end, you sorta sound like I feel.) So, not much exploring going on. I’m pretty bummed about it. But there’s still time. We plan to be here for a while. 😉

We did manage to go to church Sunday, and we’ve gone shopping at the mall for basic comfort things (mattress, mattress toppers, pillows). So that’s good.

Haven likes all the kiddie rides at the mall.

Veggies for soup stock are sold on a bunch here. I like it! 🙂

And, of course, there’s Coke.

So, life goes on. Whether or not we get to “explore”, we’re having an adventure!

  1. I don’t know if your oils went with you but breathing Warror or Top Gun several times a day will usually take care of a true sinus infection.
