Multikino (Movie Theatre) – July 30, 2018

There’s a serious heat wave in Europe right now. And with no air conditioning at the house, we decided to take Haven for her first movie theater experience. In the the AC. 😉

But first, we had to get there.

Brian rode his bike. (He’s trying to get used to the route and the exercise before he has to bike almost daily to the University.) The girls and I took public transportation and met him there.

Above: If you look closely, you’ll see a member of one of the best police forces in Poland: the Grandma patrol. Grandmas know everything. And they must be obeyed. Or else.

Below: See? Doesn’t it look hot???

Arriving at Stare Browar Mall (no pictures–sorry!), we went up two escalators, walked down a corridor and across the courtyard of the Old Brewery (a very cool thing we’ll have to check out sometime when we aren’t in a rush–there’s a dry fountain and I’m wondering if it used to flow with wine or beer or water), up two more escalators, and down another corridor to the movie theater.

It had reserved, numbered tickets for the seats. Each seat was a recliner and had a swivel table with a drink holder.

They had little bean bag booster chairs for kids. We borrowed a red one for Haven.

Incredibles 2 was just as good as the first one. (Brian, Annora and I had seen it before–we took Brian for Father’s Day.) Haven liked it! Watching it in Polish made me pay closer attention to the facial expressions. I appreciated the animation before, but now I’m in awe. Well done, animator-artists!

After lunch and a little shopping at the mall, the girls and I headed back. Have I mentioned that it’s crazy hot? Especially standing in the sun without a breeze. Especially after carrying a sleepy toddler uphill. We were waiting for a tram that never came.

While that could be the name of a song, it is the literal truth in our case. Our tram was supposed to arrive. Twice! It was even listed on the digital arrivals board. Twice! But it never did come. Tram 6 going toward Junikowo was a horrible, terrible hoax. After we were fooled into waiting a second time with no positive outcome, we decided to take an alternate route.

Picked up some blueberries at Ogrody before getting on our bus. Haven wanted lody (ice cream), but we didn’t have the time.

And yes, Brian beat us home by riding his bike.
