Migrant Info Point and MacBeth – 23 August 2018

Brian and I took my and the girls’ residence card paperwork to Migrant Info Point, where the lovely folks there helped us unravel some of the finer points of filling out the 12 page documents in Polish. Whew! Thank you, MIP! Now we are ready for our residence appointment next month. Nearby, this is what we saw.

Gotta go here and learn about the cracking if the WWII Inigma Machine. Very cool.

Brian went home. I wandered over to a cafe called Przekora That we had visited in December to wait for Annora to join me. Good grief! I thought the weather was going to cool down. Nope. 90F. The answer? Frappe! (And also some sparkling water.)

The frappe was enormous. Aaah! Regreshing! Grand total: 17 Złotych = $4.59 USD.

Annora ordered some gnocchi, and I couldn’t say no to the Apple pie.

Then, it was time to walk to the multikino at Stary Browar for a showing of the British National Theater Live playing of Macbeth.

When you buy a movie ticket here, your numbered seat is reserved. The comfy chairs are actually recliners with a footrests and individual swivel tables.

So much popcorn! (It was a lot. We only finished half.)

We got there a little early.

Macbeth was intense. Seriously. The first scene showed a post apocalyptic world of chaos and battle in which Macbeth sawed off the head of his enemy with a machete-type weapon and hung the head high on a pole. It was dark and creepy, which was perfect. The actors were AMAZING. Not so sure about some of the director’s choices (there was no “boil boil toil and trouble” for instance. And the dance/party scene was just…off.

Anyway… Even with having to wait and wait for transportation, we got home before midnight, so that was a win!

I had a lot of fun with Annora. She has such a great sense of humor, and she sees things from angles I would have missed entirely!

We should do this again. I think National Theater Live is doing Frankenstein with Benedict Cumberbatch in a month or two.

My new phone’s camera isn’t nearly as nice as the old Pixel’s. What can I say? I’ve been spoiled by quality. *sigh* Still trying to make it work, but it’s hard when the lens area keeps getting smeared up or just has glare of its own. I have to clean it every time I want to take a picture. Oh well. Maybe I’ll take my old phone everywhere, just for pictures. 🙂

  1. I try to leave posts on the blog, but it keeps telling me it doesn’t recognize me, so I figure here will do as well or even better.Sounds like a fun evening and a good day—home before midnight–just barely.Tis a pretty park and I’m sure the shade feels good on a summer day. Great looking buildings provide lots of good photo ops

    1. The buildings here are magnificent, and there are a lot of intriguing and even cute architectural details that can surprise a person. Mosaics, murals, and other art abound. I can’t wait to show you!
