She’s Here! – Christmas 2018

Nannie/Mom/Margaret arrived! We picked her up at the Poznań airport and took her home on the bus.

Floating, falling snow blanketed the neighborhood. Nannie walked with me to pick up Haven from preschool.

It snowed, hovering just above freezing, as we visited the Christmas Market. Everything was cold and wet.

Good food is everywhere. We picked up some chimney cakes (one Nutella, one cinnamon sugar) to share as we made our way back to the tram.

Haven helped put up the last few decorations Nannie brought

Brian, Haven and I took our bikes to do a big grocery trip. Groceries had to cover Saturday and four more days: Sunday, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and Boxing Day. Stores generally aren’t open Sundays, nor are they open holidays. It requires extra planning, but it’s not a major problem.

The Sunday before Christmas, our church (Poznań International Church/PIC) had it’s special Christmas service. My favorite part was singing “Silent Night” in several languages. ☺️

Christmas Eve, Haven slept in Annora’s room. Then…

Finally!

Christmas morning!

After a couple days at the house, we were ready to get out and do something!
Brian and I had to get some residency paperwork taken care of in Dopiewo. We took the bus there, but everyone decided to visit the Zamek (Imperial Castle), so we took the train into Poznań and met Margaret, Annora, and Haven there for lunch. (Please click on the Zamek link above–there’s some pretty cool history.) (The train below was not ours, but a similar train at Dopiewo. Brian filmed it. 🙂)

Sadly, the picture below is the only one of the Zamek we took that day. The food and fresh juice from the cafe was fantastic. Haven liked exploring up the stairs and in the bookstore.

After a few days stuck inside the house, minimal exploring, and having to sit to eat, Haven needed to move her body!!! She and I walked to Start Browar Mall, where there is a really fun play place called Leopark! And it’s mostly pink! Woo-hoo!!!

Brian and Margaret and Annora walked a different direction to a chocolate shop and ordered fondue. 😋 Yum!

We regrouped at the Mall’s Multikino and saw Aquaman (Haven had written herself out and thankfully slept through most of it). Heading home, it was cold and damp.
