On the train back home from Rome, Brian told me that he and Haven were sick. He was doing better, just really tired, but Haven was in a bad way. Boy, was he right!
Also, I’d walked so much in Rome and I was pregnant enough that my legs hurt like crazy–like a deep sunburn. So I needed to go to the clinic too. After arriving home, I headed right back out the door with Haven in tow, doctor visiting buddies!

Haven’s prognosis was that she was sick with a bad cough. (No kidding.) She started having high fevers at night (103.5-104.5). We did what the doctors said, and it went away… Kind of.
I was given a prescription for blood thinners (the daily shot/injection kind) and referred to a specialist in case I had a blood clot. After a huge amount of rigamarole and trespassing once more upon the goodwill of our friends and getting a ton of help from them, I managed to get in to see an excellent doctor at a private hospital. My prognosis after several days off shots (shivver): I had broken or bruised most of the little veins in my legs because I was pregnant and walked way to far in Rome. But I didn’t have any clots and am not likely to ever have clots, even as I age.
No more injections! Brian was happy too because he’d been giving them to me.

In all the hubbub, Annora and Jack provided a calm presence.

And Annora taught Haven a Flannery O’Connor quote (which Haven immediately modified). 😆
“The truth does not change according to our ability to stomach it.”
became
“The truth does not change. Stomach it.”
🤣

Above: Annora took this pic of a Polish sunset.
Below: Annora and I had a lunch date just of the main square in Poznań. It was SO GOOD.

I got sick, and Haven got sick again. It wasn’t fun.

Annora kicked tail in her academic studies! Seriously. The girl worked hard, even though there was a lot of stuff going on.
We ordered pizza from a new place. I think this was a “medium”. The slices were as big as Annora’s head!

Haven was sick on and off and missed a total of about 6 weeks of preschool. 🤒😷 Poor little thing was miserable for a few days, then ok for a few days. She spent a lot of time cuddles up with me on the couch.
