Catching Up – October-2018

The last few months have been filled with big news (we’re going to have a baby!), trepidation, cultural difficulties, fun, and special moments. Here are some pictures from October. 😊

Brian took me on a date to Ratuszova in Stary Rynek (Old Town). We’d highly recommend it if you visit Poznań! Traditional Polish duck is on the menu, but my favorite was the Jerusalem Artichoke root soup with coffee oil drizzled on top (sorry, no pic).

And then we had chocolate. (And, yes, we took some back home for the girls. 😉)

One beautiful day, we just had to get outside, so we grabbed some water and pastries and went to a park to play.

In October, Shenanigans happened.

We said goodbye to summer (finally!) and embraced cooler weather.

Brian and I geeked out at the full orchestra “Epic Game Music” concert. 😎

We got there early. The place was packed by the time it started.

In October, Brian got a good start working at Adam Mickiewicz University and getting to know his students and coworkers a bit more. He rode his bike to work most days. 😁

Annora ploughed through her second month of high school work with Wilson Hill Academy (why, oh, why did we let her take so many classes? 🙄).

Haven enjoyed her preschool more and more, in spite of some pretty serious acclimation issues. She even got to go on her first field trip to the Palm House. (The teachers laughed a bit because I wrote my phone number on Haven’s arm just in case she ran off. 😆 They know I’m the crazy American mom. It’s all good.)

What was I doing this whole time? I worked on some graphic design stuff, bought winter clothes for the fam (shopping takes a lot longer–especially for large Americans. There are no women’s shoes my size here. And clothes? Forget it! Little Annora wears the largest size clothes normally available here. Where do large Polish people get their clothes?!) Most of our clothes were bought online. I was constantly dealing with Haven’s issues and her extra-extra neediness for Mom. I took her on bike rides and walks. I was Annora’s moral support as she navigated a completely new kind of schedule and learned to properly juggle the work from her seven intense classes. I think I helped Brian some… At least he was fed. And warmly clothed.

October was a month of big adjustments and good times. Darkness encroached. Gray skies became more common. We began the slow decent into darkness.
